I’m not a natural athlete I avoided PE at school. In 2014 after giving up smoking and a significant weight loss I found a friend in exercise in particular running. I started a couch to 5k app with my then 12 year old son. That summer we ran a 5k together. I continued to run further distances with my dad. I wanted to give back to my running club at the time and in 2015 I became a run leader. In 2016 I ran my first marathon. It was during my post marathon recovery that I lead one of the Norton beginners groups it was such a privilege to help those fabulous ladies. Soon after I met my now husband who is an amazing runner and he introduced me to different types of races. In 2017 I had a miscarriage it was following this loss I returned to run leading assisting with a couch to 5k group which then continued as an intermediate group as the ladies didn’t want to leave.
In 2018 I fell pregnant again I continued to run lead until I was 6 months pregnant. Caleb was born on 22 October and once we had his 8 week check up I returned to running at park run with him in his buggy and joined the Darlington fit to push group. Although an experienced runner I had never been a runner with a baby I soon found it was a great way to get fit again and more importantly make friends while spending precious time with Caleb. When the opportunity arose to support ladies running with their babies close to home I jumped at the chance as it combines my favourite things running and helping others to be inspired in an environment where it’s ok to be a mum and Caleb can join me at sessions.
